Where ChatGPT is the better choice
- You want one general assistant for writing, questions, images, voice and everyday help, and you already pay for it.
- You want the cheapest entry: Plus at $20 includes Work and Codex.
- You need a cloud browser that can operate interactive websites, with takeover.
- You are on a Business or Enterprise workspace where content is not used for training by default and an admin manages access.
- Your work lives in Excel, Google Drive or GitHub connectors that OpenAI supports directly.
Where AutoAGI is the better choice
- You want models beyond OpenAI's, including Claude, Gemini and Grok, without managing separate subscriptions.
- You are running into the shared ChatGPT allowance. Work and Codex draw from one pool, so a big build can use up your assistant time. AutoAGI runs on its own allowance and does not touch it.

What happened to ChatGPT agent mode?
OpenAI's current product for longer multi-step work is ChatGPT Work, which its help center describes as an agent for finished deliverables. Older articles and videos about "ChatGPT agent" or "agent mode" may describe a previous version, including its old monthly message limits. Some users report agent mode was removed in August 2026. We could not confirm that from OpenAI's own pages, so check the help center for the current state of any feature you rely on.
Where AGI Layer comes from
