AutoGPT pricing explained: Pro, Max and the credit wallet

The plan prices are clear. What a month of real use costs is less obvious. Here is how AutoGPT charges, what to check, and how it compares with AutoAGI.

The short answer

AutoGPT cloud has two published plans: Pro at $50 a month (7-day trial, card required) and Max at $320 a month (8.5 times Pro usage, 5 times the file storage, priority support). A Team plan is listed as coming soon. Workflow runs are billed separately from a pay-as-you-go credit wallet, and no per-credit rate is published on the pricing page. Self-hosting is free but you supply the infrastructure and model API keys.

The credit wallet is where the real cost lives

The plan price covers access, Otto and Expert chat. Automation runs are pay-as-you-go and draw from a credit wallet on every plan, and you can set a spending cap for each Expert. The pricing page does not publish a per-credit rate.

That means the sticker price is a floor, not a forecast. Before committing, run a representative workload during the 7-day trial and read the wallet balance afterwards. That number, scaled to a month, is your real cost.

What that looked like on a real account: during our Pro trial the billing page showed "Expert usage" as a percentage used today and this week, with a daily and a weekly reset, and a separate automation-credit balance of $3.00 that stayed untouched while four tasks ran in Otto chat. Those four tasks used 6% of the week and 29% of the day. See the head-to-head test.

Third-party listings disagree with the vendor. Some show $19 a month or $0, which reflect older pricing or the free self-hosted code. Trust the vendor's pricing page and its date over an aggregator.

A short checklist before you pay for any agent platform

  1. Find out whether runs are inside the plan or billed separately, and where the rate is published.
  2. Run one real task, not a demo, and record the time and the cost.
  3. Check whether there is a hard cap so a stuck run cannot keep spending.
  4. Look for a team or seat model if more than one person will use it.
